Johnny Rockets | Review

Hey Guys!

How was the Sallah Break?

Mine was very eventful, I travelled to Abuja and I was able to visit friends and family.

This is my second time going to JR, but my friend had never been to JR before (and swears by Five Guys) so it was an opportunity to review it.

As I entered JR immediately felt like I had accidentally entered a time machine that transported me to the 50s-60s (Grease with John Travolta?). Everything from the tabletop jukeboxes, matching decor and their uniforms. We kept picking classic rock songs on the jukeboxes.

The staff are known to sing and dance occasionally (I posted a video on SnapChat).

I ordered the SmokeHouse Single Burger with the Oreos Cookie & Cream milkshake while my friend ordered the Rocket Single Burger with the Strawberry Milkshake. It took about 15 minutes for our orders to be ready.

What is Smoke House Single? From their menu, it is:

An exceptional blend of flavors, this is a one-of-a-kind hamburger. Smoked bacon, crispy sourdough onion rings, cheddar cheese and our special recipe “Smoke House” barbecue-ranch sauce.

Our classic cheeseburger includes cheddar cheese, iceberg lettuce, fresh tomato, white onion & special sauce.

The SmokeHouse Single burger was very juicy, fulfilling and delicious. The patty was well seasoned and well done. The SmokeHouse barbecue-ranch sauce is awesome (sweet but not too sweet). When I had the first bite of the burger, everything tasted harmoniously. The best thing about my meal was the Oreos Cookies & Cream milkshake, I can confidently say it is the BEST milkshake I have had in Nigeria.

The Rocket Single burger was juicy and just greasy enough to not be sloppy.  The Strawberry Milkshake was smooth, chilled, the cream was nice and the extra refill was a nice touch.

Now my main issue with Johnny Rockets is that I have to pay for the fries (N800 for a single portion). I mean, I just spent N3000+ on the burger I deserve the fries free of charge.

  1. I’ve been to the one in VI and I liked it – actually blogged about it a while back. I might check out one in Atlanta.

    1. I am actually curious as to the one in Atlanta. Can you do a review of that one and compare it with the one in Naija?

  2. Got nothing to say but “We built this city on rock and rolllllllllll”
