Mastercard Restaurant Week 2016

Hey Guys!

Sigh, its almost 2017 already can you believe it?

I am just excited Christmas is around, everyone is usually in a happy mode and lots of parties and events (opportunity to dress up and look glam).

So Restaurant Week started yesterday (04 November 2016) and runs for 3 weeks (ends 25 November 2016) in partnership with LostinLagos. Over 30 restaurants will participate in providing diners the opportunity to experience “fine dining” at discounted prices with lunch and dinner packages available.

I am going to write about the restaurants I am excited about and looking forward to as well include their Restaurant Week menu in case you are interested. I was really hoping The BL restaurant was participating, I have heard and read such good reviews.

Arabesque || Victoria Island

Arabeseque is a good choice if you are looking for something different (Middle Eastern) from the usual choices such as Spanish, Italian, Chinese etc. Notice how the new restaurants opening in Lagos aren’t Nigerian owned? E.g. The BL Restaurant (Bulgarian Lebanese), Craft Gourmet, Arabesque etc. I kinda like it… The menu is not out but the post would be updated as soon as it’s out.

Craft Gourmet || Victoria Island

I really like the decor and ambiance, it’s adorable and gorgeous to be honest. Natural light, the mirrors – I love this place. It kinda reminds me of the decor at The Quarter Cafe. It has a bit of an open-kitchen thingy going on, it makes the diners have a unique experience and also feels like they are part of the cooking experience seeing their food go from pan to plate.

P.S. You should try out their baked cheesecake, it is soooo Amazing! *winks* You’ll thank me later.

 1415 @ Eko Signature || Victoria Island

So I tried the fine dining option at the Mastercard x Lost in Lagos opening event and I liked it. The aim of the restaurant is to “take you on a journey of culinary excellence to the taste of the finest Italian cuisines“.

I tried the Salmon Tartar and Chicken Roulade which were quite nice to be honest especially the Salmon Tartar. I also tried their Decadant Chocolate Cake which was meh to be honest, I have had better in Lagos so maybe you should the Tiramisu. Someone ordered the Emerald Risotto which looked very unique, if you are feeling very adventurous try it out.

P.S. Fine dining restaurants offer small portions but you get good quality food.

Orchid Bistro || Ikeja

Orchid Bistro is one of those restaurant tucked away in Ikeja. Nicely decorated with orchids and plants. I have included this restaurant mainly because it’s on the mainland and I have never tried any restaurant on the mainland. Although, I have read good reviews about this restaurant and looking forward to trying out their food.

Tarragon || Ikoyi

This restaurant is owned by Chef Tiyan Alile of the Culinary Academy. It offers two unique dining styles – the exquisite A la Carte Menu and a Chef’s Tasting Menu. Everything about this restaurant is said to be warm and inviting, from the ambience to the decor. This is definitely the kind of place a guy wants to take his lady to for a special occasion *winks*.

How does it work?

Basically to participate in the Restaurant Week, you need to do the following:

  • Get a Mastercard (If you use a Verve card or a Visa card, sorry).
  • Check out the list of restaurants participating here (p.s. it is advisable to get a reservation beforehand).
  • Pay with your Mastercard.

  1. I will definitely be trying out some of the restaurants here. I will be checking out Orchid Bistro, 355 restaurant and craft gourmet in the next couple of weeks. So excited!
    But I don’t know about 1415’s emerald risotto sha, not many people, even in Italy, know how to make risotto, and the picture of the dish did not look inviting at all. Not sure if I am willing to take on that risk.
    What on earth was Sakura thinking with their options? Gyoza and teppanyaki are fast food dishes, so having folks pay 8k for dumplings and a pancake dish does not make sense to me.
    Fine dining at Talindos has never gone awry for me. Talindos have a pretty strong menu for Mastercard restaurant week; the JD steak and I have been long time friends for years, and they have never failed in making their food to the exact specification requested. The coconut prawns are just bae. To make matters worse, they are also offering their delish brownies too. A combo of these dishes are about 14/15k (as of last year), so that is definitely a good and delish deal at 11k.
    Westfoster did not even try at all.
    RSVP’s menu look ok. The menu, in my opinion, reads more like a good dining menu. Chicken katsu for fine dining, really?

    The George looks like it would definitely be worth finally trying out (and it’s been on my to try list since they opened last year). Will try to do that for girls night out this week. November, the month of chopping well.

    1. Hi fellow foodie! I loved the look of the 1415 Emerald Risotto. Would have preferred Izanagi to Sakura on the list. Talindo’s menu is a very nice deal. Never been to The George perhaps I would substitute it for Craft Gourmet since I have been there before. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Nice…I doubt I’d like to do a solo food sojourn though …if you have dates for whichever…i’d like come along.

    1. Yay!!!! I am down for that anytime as usual. Thanks for stopping by!
